ACT Cheers for Higher Education on College Signing Day

CEL Team 2

On May 5, students, community and education leaders, and celebrities joined former First Lady Michelle Obama in New York City to promote College Signing Day—a national movement celebrating students committed to attending college. National College Signing Day stems from Mrs. Obama’s Reach Higher and Better Make Room initiatives to promote the importance of college education and academic success.

Center for Equity in Learning Chief Officer Jim Larimore and ACT CEO Marten Roorda, who recently joined Mrs. Obama’s Reach Higher Advisory Board to help advance college access and success, joined Mrs. Obama for the celebration. Celebrities in attendance included Nick Cannon, Michael B. Jordan, Keri Russell, Soledad O’Brien, Ashley Graham, and Robin Roberts among others.

Our Center for Equity in Learning team, along with many other ACT team members, joined the College Signing Day celebration by wearing college gear and tweeting out pictures to show our continued support for all students striving to achieve higher education success. Overall, #CollegeSigningDay was used nearly 9,000 times and “College Signing Day” reached 380 million Twitter user’s feeds.

Check out ACT team members sporting their alma mater gear and even getting creative to include two connected team members into their photo. Representing colleges and universities from across the nation and internationally, College Signing Day was a huge success as we cheered on students who are reaching higher.
