Higher education will determine the future of our nation, yet often students from underserved backgrounds are not given the opportunity or support they need to apply to college. We know that the process can be overwhelming and that some students may have doubts that college is worth it or fears about the application process, but we can help address those fears and celebrate the college application process. That’s why ACAC and our #WhyApply Day are so important.
This fall, join the American College Application Campaign in telling students why it’s important to apply to college, whether it’s a certificate program, two-year degree or four-year degree. #WhyApply Day celebrates the college application season by sharing supportive and motivating messages on social media about the importance of applying to college – a critical and necessary step on the journey to postsecondary education.
On Friday, September 20, head to your social media accounts and answer the question “Why apply to college?” using the hashtag #WhyApply.
Each year, ACAC partners with thousands of high schools across the country to host events in the fall supporting students through the college application process, especially first-generation and those from low-income families who may not otherwise apply to college. This year, approximately 8,000 high schools will host events and guide an estimated 600,000 students who may not otherwise have applied.
