“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
– Aesop
In ongoing efforts to fulfill ACT’s mission to help people achieve education and workplace success, we’re marking Giving Tuesday by reflecting on how we have already given back, and how we can continue to make a difference in the lives of others during this busy time of year.
We are delighted to report that in fiscal year 2016, ACT awarded $120,000 to 66 organizations across Iowa, in six other states (Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Texas, and Washington), and in Haiti. All of the organizations share ACT’s mission and values of helping others. A few examples of the organizations we supported are Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa, the Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund, and Seattle Education Access. Each of these organizations are shining examples of helping people succeed through education and outreach efforts.
Giving Tuesday isn’t just a time about giving monetarily, but also about the gift of time and talent. ACT encourages its employees to volunteer in their communities. Each year, hundreds of ACT team members spend thousands of hours donating their time and services to organizations across the U.S. Employees are encouraged to give their time and talent to organizations that hold a special place in their hearts.
This Giving Tuesday, open your heart and help others, by volunteering or making a monetary gift, however it best fits your life. Every person has the power to help others and to make a difference – and giving is its own gift!
“Wherever there is a human in need, there is an opportunity for kindness and to make a difference.”
– Kevin Heath
