Today marked a significant day in history as Donald J. Trump became the 45th president of the United States. It also ushered in a new group of leaders, including Betsy DeVos, the President’s nominee for the Secretary of Education. As Senator Joe Lieberman noted, using ACT data, in his introduction of DeVos at her confirmation hearing, nearly 40 percent of the nation’s high school graduates are not ready for college and career. ACT and the Center for Equity in Learning look forward to working with the new administration to promote equity, opportunity, and readiness for all students, and to continuing our sharing of evidence and insights with federal policymakers to guide and inform their work.
