ACT was honored, along with several other Johnson County (Iowa) organizations, at the United Way of Johnson and Washington County’s Power of U Community Celebration on March 29 at the University of Iowa’s Oakdale campus.
ACT received the Game-Changer in Education Award in recognition of outstanding support of education in the Iowa community through the My Very Own Book Drive, Out of School Time Initiative, employee engagement, and volunteerism. ACT team members give their time, talent, and resources throughout the year, including a focused week each fall during the annual campaign.
A group of team members, along with Marten Roorda, CEO, and Melissa Murer Corrigan, VP Social Impact Strategy and Programs, Center for Equity in Learning, accepted the award on ACT’s behalf.
The United Way staff and campaign chairs also revealed the 2016 total Johnson and Washington County community investment of $2,252,367. We were thrilled to receive the Game-Changer Award as we continue to promote innovative education and workforce solutions to help guide individuals to education and career success.
