It’s that time of year again! Our friends at Excelencia in Education are now accepting nominations for this year’s Examples in Excelencia.
Examples of Excelencia is the only national effort to identify and promote evidence-based practices that help accelerate Latino student success in higher education. Through a year-long process, Excelencia identifies, reviews, and promotes programs at colleges and universities as well as community-based organizations.
Our partnership with Excelencia in Education remains central to our mission to close gaps in equity, opportunity, and achievement for underserved students. Examples of Excelencia are recognized atExcelencia’s capstone event, Celebración de Excelencia. This annual recognition of evidence-based practices serving Latino and other students in higher education is held in Washington, D.C. and is organized in cooperation with members of Congress, other elected officials, and educational leaders.
The Center has had the opportunity to celebrate programs that are accelerating Latino success, together with Excelencia, at the events in 2016 and 2017. We are looking forward to continuing to work together to bring a national focus on the importance of bridging the gap between high school and college completion for Latino students and honoring programs on the national stage that are doing just that.
We are looking forward to 2018’s Celebración de Excelencia and the continued pursuit of Latino student success in higher education.
